Frettens Teams Up with Lashings World XI for Exciting Cricket Clash at Wimborne

We are thrilled to announce that we are sponsoring this years Lashings World XI’s clash against Wimborne Cricket Club on Friday 27th June 2025.

Who are Lashings?

Lashings World is a renowned cricket team made up of former international cricket stars,. Over the years, Lashings have featured some of the biggest names in cricket history, including Richie Richardson, Brian Lara, Sir Viv Richards and Gordon Greenidge.

The Wimborne match will feature fearsome West Indian duo Courtney Walshand Curtly Ambrose, as well as a host of other former international stars.

What prompted Frettens to sponsor Lashings?

“We had our own table at the Wimborne CC match last summer, and had an absolutely fantastic time alongside our guests.” said Mathew Fretten, Managing Partner.

“We were blown away by how well-organised the event was, loved meeting the legends, and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know everyone at the Lashings team.

We truly believe in this event, so jumped at the chance to partner with Lashings and get more involved this year.

Plus, we now have the perfect opportunity to raise funds for our charity partners MYTIME, who do some amazing work with young carers across the country.

We absolutely cannot wait!”

Who’s playing at this year’s Event?

This year Wimborne Cricket Club will come up against Lashings XI’s, Chris Schofield (C), Courtney Walsh, Curtly Ambrose, Monty Panesar and John Emburey.

Offering an opportunity for the local Wimborne community to watch world class cricketing talent in action. Whether you’re a lifelong cricket fan or new to the sport, this year’s fixture is set to be a day full of sporting fun.

In support of MYTIME Young Carers

Lashings events across the years have raised over a million pounds for local clubs and charities. At this year’s event, we are pleased to announce that we are raising money in support of our Charity Partners, MYTIME Young Carers.

MYTIME are an amazing organisation that provides much needed support and opportunities for young carers, through their memory making days and employability programme.

What will the day look like?

The day is set to kick off at 11:00 with the Junior coaching and a call for lunch at 12:30. The T20 match between Lashings World XI and Wimborne Cricket Club is set to kick off at 16:00, followed by the closing presentation at 19:30.
