Six Bournemouth shopfronts transformed with new window displays

Six vacant shopfronts on Old Christchurch Road have been given a colourful new look thanks to Bournemouth Town Centre BID.

The initiative is helping create a brighter, more welcoming town centre while supporting businesses and enhancing the visitor experience.

The high-quality vinyl displays have been installed across the windows of properties at 6, 8, 60, 71–73, 80 and 84 Old Christchurch Road, creating attractive retail-style displays for people visiting, shopping and working in the town centre.

The project began in March 2026, when the first three shopfront installations were completed along Old Christchurch Road. Building on this initial phase, the initiative has now been extended to three more properties.

By reducing the visual impact of empty units, window vinyl's discourage vandalism and graffiti and create a more positive impression for visitors and potential investors. They also help keep high streets looking vibrant while properties are being marketed, reinforcing the message that the town centre is active, cared for and open for business.

Through the project, Bournemouth Town Centre BID is helping to create a more attractive and welcoming environment while demonstrating the continued care and investment being made in the town centre.

Andy Duck, Bournemouth Town Centre BID Board Director and Centre Manager for the Avenue Centre and Bobbys, said:

“These displays are a simple but effective way of brightening shop windows and keeping the town centre looking its best.

“We know how important the town centre is to our community, and projects like this are about making sure Bournemouth continues to feel like a place people enjoy spending time in.”

The completed displays create a more consistent and attractive appearance along Old Christchurch Road, complementing the many independent businesses, national retailers, cafés and restaurants already trading in the area.

The initiative forms part of Bournemouth Town Centre BID’s ongoing work to enhance the town centre environment, support local businesses and ensure Bournemouth continues to be a welcoming place to live, work and visit.
