Ford believes new recruit Bowes can flourish with Poole Pirates

Promoter Danny Ford believes Poole Pirates will be the place where Aussie Fraser Bowes “can really unlock his potential”.

The 23-year-old arrives at Wimborne Road as their first new signing for 2026.

Bowes made his British racing debut for Workington last season and is looking to build on the 5.63 average he recorded in 2025.

Poole fans saw a glimpse of his talent when he romped to a six-ride 13 points at Wimborne Road in July, a performance that included a retirement in his third ride.

Speaking about the club’s latest recruit, Ford told the club website: “Fraser is another exciting Aussie to join the Pirates and he immediately showed he liked the look of Wimborne Road when he visited last season.

“With a year of Championship racing behind him, and experience of almost every track now under his belt, we believe that once he gets properly dialled into our place we can really unlock his potential."

Bowes added: "I would like to thank Matt and Danny Ford, Middlo (Neil Middleditch) and Havvy (Gary Havelock) for making this happen.

“I really enjoyed my visits to Wimborne Road and, with it being a technical track, I am really looking forward to riding there every week next season."

Bowes joins Richard Lawson and Will Cairns in the Pirates' confirmed 2026 line-up.
