Cook proud to see Pirates rally for 'solid win' over Edinburgh
Captain Zach Cook hailed the way Poole Pirates rallied together as they eventually saw off the challenge of Edinburgh Monarchs at Wimborne Road.
Having lost 51-39 at Workington on Saturday, Poole bounced back to record a 53-37 victory over Edinburgh in the SGB Championship.
The league leaders however did not have it all their own way in the opening stages and found themselves trailing by two points after heat seven.
But a trio of 5-1s for the hosts set them back on course to winning ways.
Pirates number one Richard Lawson totalled 13+1 from his five rides, only dropping one point to an opposition rider.
Lewi Kerr (10) also impressed, while Cook himself recorded 7+3.
The skipper said: “Everyone grouped together and turned it around in the second half and gave us a solid win here.
“We said after the weekend that we would put that Workington defeat behind us and move on and everyone dug deep and showed what we can really do.
Poole are set to visit Scunthorpe at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday (7.30pm).
