Captain Cook leads from the front in Poole Pirates' win at Scunthorpe

Super skipper Zach Cook was the star of the show for Poole Pirates at Scunthorpe before declaring his love for the Eddie Wright Raceway.

The Aussie charger totalled 14 points from five rides, including four heat wins to help Pirates seal a 50-40 win over the Scorpions away from home.

Backed up by number one Richard Lawson (11+2) Cook showed his class to help Pirates surge nine points clear of the Glasgow Tigers at the top of the SGB Championship.

Poole were six points down to the Scunthorpe in the early stages of the meeting, but with the help of Cowra-born Cook, they rallied at the business end.

The captain said: “I don't know why but I do love riding this place and it was good to get amongst the points.

“But more importantly it was an super all-round team performance and it feels good to come away with another good win."

Next up for Poole is a home clash against Workington on Wednesday (7.30pm).
