Ford delighted by 2026 Poole Pirates line-up

Promoter Danny Ford insisted he was “really pleased” by how Poole Pirates’ 2026 line-up has materialised, as they welcome back their power-packed heat leader trio.

Skipper Zach Cook, Richard Lawson and Lewis Kerr will return to Wimborne Road in 2026, after helping Poole to the SGB Championship and Knockout Cup triumphs.

They are joined by exciting duo William Cairns and Cooper Rushen at reserve, with Fraser Bowes and Dan Gilkes rounding off the septet.

“We are really pleased with how the 2026 team has come together,” Ford told the club website.

“We've got three strong heat leaders in Richard Lawson, Zach Cook and Lewi Kerr.

“Both Zach and Lewi have room to improve their averages, while, with Richard there isn't a great deal of room for improvement - but that's because he is already the best rider in the league."

Meanwhile, Pirates have confirmed locally-based boat dealer Wessex Marine will continue as the club’s title sponsor next season.

Ford added: “We are absolutely delighted that Wessex Marine are continuing as our title sponsors. They have been fantastic supporters of the Pirates for many years and their commitment to the club has been unwavering.

"David and Guy (Adams) are true speedway people and brilliant backers of riders at all levels, from those just starting out in their careers, right through to Grand Prix stars.

“Their support goes far beyond sponsorship, and having Wessex Marine alongside us again is hugely important as we look ahead to another exciting season."
