Ford believes Pirates can find another gear ahead of season finale
Promoter Danny Ford believes Poole Pirates have another gear to find ahead of their treble-hunting season finale.
The defending champions sealed a 58-32 first-leg victory over Glasgow at Wimborne Road last night, putting them in command of their Knockout Cup semi-final clash with the Tigers.
They also hold the same advantage over Oxford in the BSN Series competition, ahead of the second leg of that contest.
And Ford, who awaits Poole’s SGB Championship play-off semi-final opposition, believes his septet can still find more ahead of the business end of the campaign.
Speaking to the Daily Echo, Ford said: “I think as the weather's cooled down, we've got a team who like a bit more moisture on the tracks and the tracks are now holding onto their moisture a lot more rather than the unforgiving 30-degree weather we experienced for a long time.
“The riders seem to be coming into their own because the tracks are a little bit more to their liking.
“So yeah, things seem to be clicking. I still think we have another gear to find and fingers crossed we can find that now because it's the business end of the season.”
