Lawson: Getting all of these trophies with Poole, it’s an unreal club
Poole Pirates number one Richard Lawson described Poole Pirates as an “unreal club” as he added to his bulging trophy cabinet in 2025.
Described as a “points machine” by team boss Neil Middleditch, Lawson spearheaded Poole’s SGB Championship and Knockout Cup victories in this season.
It adds to his league title wins in 2022 and 2024, where Pirates recorded trophy doubles and trebles respectively.
This time round, he teamed up with captain Zach Cook to land the league title in a super-heat finale at Glasgow.
Reflecting on the campaign, Lawson told the Speedway Star: "I probably rode the best I ever have. I went on some winning streaks, and we've had some great wins home and away as a team. After finishing off like this, I can't imagine topping that.
"When I came here in 2022, I never had thoughts of trebles and then trying to do back-to-back trebles and getting all of these trophies with Poole. It’s an unreal club. I can't speak highly enough of it."
Lawson is one of three riders already signed for Poole in 2026, with youngster Will Cairns and Aussie Fraser Bowes also secured.
