Pirates learn SGB Championship play-off opponents after second-placed league finish

Poole Pirates are set to face Redcar Bears in the semi-finals of the SGB Championship play-offs.

The fixtures against the Bears were rubber-stamped after Poole were confirmed as finishing second in the league table, one point behind Glasgow Tigers, who won at Edinburgh to seal top spot on Friday.

Neil Middleditch’s side finished with 31 points from their 16 league meetings, while Glasgow pipped them to the summit with 32 points.

Redcar have one more regulation meeting but are assured of third spot, while Glasgow will take on either Edinburgh or Workington in their play-off semi-final.

Pirates are still in the hunt for a domestic treble this season, having also reached the semi-finals of the BSN Series and Knockout Cup.

They are looking to defend those three trophies, after a clean sweep of team silverware in 2024.

Dates and times of the SGB Championship play-off semi-finals are yet to be announced.

Poole go to Glasgow for the second leg of their Knockout Cup tie on September 7, holding a 14-point lead.
