Pirates in command with 12-point lead in SGB Championship play-off final

Poole Pirates put themselves in the box seat to land the SGB Championship title, after recording a 51-39 victory over Glasgow Tigers at Wimborne Road.

Neil Middleditch‘s side were once again spearheaded by number one Richard Lawson (14) and captain Zach Cook (11+3) as Poole took advantage of home-track advantage in the first leg.

Lawson and Cook combined for a 5-1 in heat 15, lowering the colours of Chris Harris and Dan Thompson, to build a 12-point advantage heading into Friday’s second-leg finale at Ashfield.

Pirates remain in contention to land a domestic treble this season, and defend the trio of trophies they won in 2024.

Middleditch‘s side have already wrapped up the Knockout Cup crown and could still add both the SGB Championship and BSN Series titles to their collection in 2025.

The first leg was also viewed live at Wimborne Road by football legend Harry Redknapp, who recently made it clear that he wanted to back the sport going forward by publicly raising its profile.
