Ford: Rushen 'wants to make an impression' at Poole Pirates
Promoter Danny Ford insisted rising star Cooper Rushen “wants to make an impression” in his first season racing for Poole Pirates.
The teenager turns 16 on March 29th, therefore making him eligible for the start of Poole’s SGB Championship title defence.
Rushen will join fellow British teenager Will Cairns at reserve for the Wimborne Road outfit – the main body of the team being made up by Lewis Kerr, Fraser Bowes, Dan Gilkes, Zach Cook and Richard Lawson.
Speaking about the signing of Rushen, Ford believes the youngster has the ability to become a fan favourite.
“We pride ourselves on getting the guys everyone wants at Championship level. It's a real coup for us to bring Cooper on board for 2026,” he told the Speedway Star.
"He has a fantastic personality, as we have seen with the tassels and the bright orange kevlars.
“He certainly wants to make an impression and not just go out there and win heats, which he does anyway in fantastic fashion. He leaves a lasting impression and leaves the supporters feeling entertained.”
