Bournemouth Beach Hut Waiting Lists Reopen After Seven Years

Waiting lists for beach huts in Bournemouth are set to reopen for the first time since 2017, following a seven-year closure due to high demand.

The Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP) Council will open waiting lists for eight locations in Bournemouth, each capped at 500 names. This is a result of waiting list numbers significantly falling, as announced by the council.

The first waiting list, Bournemouth East and Bournemouth West, will open on Monday 8th July.

Historically, the purpose-built beach huts along the Bournemouth and Poole seafront have been in high demand. The council has 2,732 huts available for hire across these areas. Currently, waiting times for huts at Branksome Chine and Canford Cliffs stand at eight years.

To ensure a more consistent system, the terms and conditions for the waiting lists across Bournemouth and Poole have been updated. Applicants, who must reside within the council area, can choose to join any of the 15-beach area lists between Bournemouth and Poole. The fee to join each list is £50.

In Christchurch, there are no waiting lists as huts are sold on the open market. Poole's lists are already open but will close for maintenance from 20th to 26th June.
