We recommend

Careys is unlike any other attraction we’ve experienced over the years: intimate, authentic, beautifully curated, and bursting with seasonal wonder. It may be smaller in scale, but it is perfectly formed.
A Magical Setting From the Moment You Arrive
Your journey begins the moment you step out of the car. The forest walkway that guides you from the car park to the walled garden makes you feel full of anticipation. Twinkling lights, soft shadows, and a sense of discovery make it instantly enchanting for adults and children alike.
Once inside the walled garden (which is like something lifted straight from the novel and film The Secret Garden itself), the magic deepens. Carey’s is a place that invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and appreciate nature - as well as the beautiful light trail. And even on our windy, rainy November evening, the weather only added to the adventure!
Perfect for All Ages — Educational and Beautiful
One of our favourite elements was how educational the experience was for our children. Chalkboards dotted throughout the trail offered fascinating facts about mushrooms, bees, ospreys, roses, and more. Despite it being late November, the rose garden was still in bloom, and the scent was heavenly.
The greenhouse was another highlight; filled with citrus, jasmine, and the most beautiful aromas. We could have stayed in there all evening!
Delicious Treats From Start to Finish
We began with brownies from the Secret Coffee Stop conveniently located at the start of the trail. At the end, the kids tucked into freshly made wood-fired pizzas, while we enjoyed warming mulled ciders, creating the perfect cosy moment undercover.
Afterwards, we headed into the reclaimed barn gift shop which was gorgeously festive, filled with unique gifts, freshly foraged fungi, and even a tasting of their spicy honey. This is also where the Christmas Grotto will be located during December. Spaces are filling fast, so if you want to visit Father Christmas, book soon!
A Cosy, Intimate Experience
One thing we absolutely loved is that the trail feels exclusive and never crowded. Each time slot is limited to just 25 people, so you have plenty of space to explore at your own pace. It felt relaxed, special, and almost like a private event, something we’ve never really experienced at larger light trails.
We finished our evening in the beautifully lit light dome, snuggled up together, warm, cosy, and festive. A perfect ending to a perfect winter outing.
Brilliant Value for Money
The Enchanted Light Trail is very keenly priced, especially given the quality of the experience, the atmosphere, and the limited-numbers format.
