Website Email 01305 261849Prompted by the question “What would you pack in your suitcase?”, the artists were invited to reflect on life’s final journey. From this starting point emerged deeper, more personal questions: What would you choose to leave behind? How would you like to be remembered? What truly matters?
This exhibition is the culmination of nearly a year of shared conversations and creative exploration. The artists met regularly to discuss themes such as what a “good death” might look like, how different cultures approach death and dying, the needs of those left behind, and the enduring question of what might happen next. Along the way, they shared their own experiences of loss, remembrance, and meaning.
Shown for the first time at the Royal Manor Theatre in Portland, The Final Journey now invites visitors at Shire Hall Museum to engage with these deeply human reflections. Thought-provoking, moving, and ultimately life-affirming, the exhibition offers space for contemplation, conversation, and connection.
