Dragon & Fairy Trail at Minterne House and Gardens

Do you believe in fairies? Come at meet the woodland fairies and their secretive friends.

Why not lose yourself in the land of make-believe, their beautiful fairy trail will transport you to a place of mystery and enchantment. The hand crafted willow sculptures and displays create a feeling of wonderment as you meander through the beautiful gardens and on into the secret woodland.

Their Giant Toadstools and Dandelions may make you feel small but its all part of the magic, keep a good look out for the mischievous sprites and boggarts. The woodland fairies are shy creatures and they are not always easy to find, so please look up as well as down or even look inside the odd tree stump if you want to catch a glimpse of theses illusive creatures. 

Some of the other woodland animals and dragons may make an appearance but don’t be alarmed they are a friendly bunch and they just love being around the woodland fairies. You may even catch a glimpse of a Unicorn and its foal …Why not dress up as your favourite fairy and join in the fun.

New for 2025: Dragon Alley - do you dare to run the gauntlet and walk down dragon alley..who knows what you will find.

The trail is designed for all ages and there is an accompanying story/colouring book, so that you can remind yourselves of the beautiful fairies and their friends.

The willow sculptures are hand made on the edge of Dartmoor using locally sourced materials with delicate wings that flutter in the slightest breeze.

Time: Open from 10-5pm (last admission 4.30pm)

Minterne House Season Ticket Holders can go through the gardens as usual at no extra charge, but when bringing children, payment is required to complete the trail. 

The circular walk takes about an hour. Culminating in a visit to the wishing tree (for those that purchase a trail pack: a ribbon is enclosed to make your wish)

• There are refreshments and toilets onsite with ample parking 
• Well behaved dogs are welcome 
• The trail is relatively flat with wood chip paths in the wooded area and gravel paths or lawn in the garden.
