REVIEW: Kids’ Swimming Lessons in Dorset with Individuality Swimming

If you’re looking for kids’ swimming lessons in Dorset that are fun, safe, and incredibly effective, I can’t recommend Individuality Swimming enough. My daughters, aged 8 and 5, have been swimming with them for over two years now, and their confidence and skills in the water have absolutely soared.

From day one, the team at Individuality Swimming have been warm, welcoming, and professional. They offer a fantastic range of swimming classes for children across Poole and Dorset; from baby and toddler swimming sessions through to learn-to-swim lessons, stroke development, and even lifesaving and advanced technique classes for older or more confident swimmers.

Nurturing, Structured, and Fun Lessons

Our lessons take place at Hamworthy School swimming pool, which is one of the loveliest venues around. The water is always beautifully warm (a huge plus with little ones!), and there’s a great viewing area for parents, so I can sit and watch both girls swimming at the same time.

Each class is small, so every child gets individual attention, and the instructors really do tailor their approach to suit every swimmer. They combine structure and progression with plenty of fun and encouragement. Lessons often include creative games, challenges, and confidence-building activities alongside more focused technique work. The kids always love 5 minutes at the end to be silly and do lots of jumps and dives!

My 8-year-old can now swim front crawl, breaststroke, and backstroke with great technique and confidence, and she can easily swim at least 25 metres unaided. She’s also learned about breathing control and water safety, skills that have been so valuable now that she’s taken up surfing in Dorset.

Our 5-year-old absolutely loves her swimming lessons too. She gets so excited every week and her confidence has grown so much thanks to her brilliant teacher, who makes every class full of energy and fun. Whether it’s diving for toys, practising floats, or swimming lengths, she’s smiling and giggling the entire time.

Expert Swimming Instructors Who Care

What really stands out with Individuality Swimming is the dedicated team of instructors. They’re endlessly patient, encouraging, and clearly passionate about helping every child achieve their best; whether that’s taking their first strokes or perfecting their technique. You can tell they genuinely care about each swimmer’s progress and confidence in the water.

Over the past two years, both my girls have transformed from hesitant little paddlers into strong, capable swimmers who absolutely love being in the water. Their lessons have given them skills that will stay with them for life, and as parents, it’s such a reassuring feeling knowing they’re confident and safe around water.

Our Verdict

We genuinely couldn’t be happier with Individuality Swimming. The lessons are fun, professional, and highly effective and it’s such a positive environment for children to learn in. Whether you’re looking for kids’ swimming lessons in Poole, children’s swimming classes in Hamworthy, or family-friendly swimming teachers in Dorset, this is a fantastic choice.

5/5 stars!
