REVIEW: Active Gymnastics in Poole

If you’re looking for a brilliant indoor activity in Dorset for kids, Active Gymnastics Poole is a fantastic new addition to Poole town centre. We visited with my two girls aged 8 and 5 and one of their friends, and it turned out to be the perfect play date. Affordable, relaxed and great for burning off energy, it’s exactly the kind of place Dorset families will want to have on their radar!

Amazing Value at Just £5 Per Child

One of the standout things about Active Gymnastics Poole is the price. At just £5 per child, it’s excellent value for money, particularly when you’re entertaining more than one child.

The sessions are unstructured, which we loved. Rather than being led through a class, the children can use the entire space and equipment however they like, moving freely between activities at their own pace.

Freedom to Play (With Support on Hand)

The equipment is brilliant and really varied, including:

• Climbing equipment
• Balance beams and bars
• Mats and gymnastics apparatus
• Plenty of space to run, jump and explore

What really made the experience special was the staff. They were so welcoming and friendly, striking the perfect balance between support and freedom. A member of staff is always on hand if children would like help with anything, and they were great at:

Making suggestions on how to use different pieces of equipment

Encouraging confidence and trying new things

Letting the girls choose the music, which they absolutely loved (the girls even did a little show for us to their favourite Taylor Swift songs)

The children felt supported without being restricted, which meant they played happily and confidently for the whole session.

Easy to Visit – No Stress Booking

During the weekdays, there’s no need to book in advance, which makes it a great last-minute plan or after-school treat. For weekend sessions, you can send a message via Facebook to schedule a session, but we simply turned up and paid on arrival, which was refreshingly easy.

For families who prefer something more structured, there are also gymnastics classes on the timetable, and the space can be hired for birthday parties too. It’s worth checking their Facebook page for up-to-date session times and class information here.

Central Location With Plenty Nearby

Being located in Poole town centre, Active Gymnastics is really convenient. There’s lots of parking nearby, and it’s easy to turn your visit into more of a day out.

We loved the idea of making the most of being in town – popping into The Dolphin afterwards for food in the food hall or a bit of shopping makes it a great all-round family trip.

All in all, Active Gymnastics Poole is a fantastic thing to do with kids in Poole, particularly on a wet or grey day when you want somewhere warm, active and affordable. It’s relaxed, welcoming, great value and works brilliantly for a wide age range.
