Billam-Smith proud of another 'unbelievable night' after victory in Bournemouth

Chris Billam-Smith hailed another “unbelievable night” at the BIC as he continued his undefeated record in Bournemouth.

The 35-year-old cruiserweight, nicknamed the Gentleman, stopped heavy-hitting Canadian Ryan Rozicki after he was pulled out by his corner after the seventh round.

It took the former Poole ABC fighter’s record to 22 victories and just two defeats and moved him back into contention to become a two-time champion of the world.

Both fighters were sent to hospital after a bruising contest in Dorset, with Billam-Smith taking to social media to address fans post-fight.

He said: "I am absolutely fine, they are just going to do some tests but all is well.

“Thank you for your support tonight. Another unbelievable night. Love you all, thank you so much, and see you all soon."

Rozicki was discharged from hospital on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, Dorset middleweight Lee Cutler returned to winning ways with a TKO victory over Aaron Sutton on the undercard.

After being floored by Cutler in round three, Sutton suffered a dislocated shoulder, meaning he could not continue the contest.

Speaking post-fight, Cutler, who was controversially beaten by Sam Eggington on points last time out, said: “After the Eggington fight, I believe I was robbed of a clinical victory again. I thought I was going to walk this guy down and beat him up.

"Accidents happen and respect to him for staying in there. It's a shame what happened. I've seen it in sparring with shoulders, but the shot buzzed him before the shoulder came out."

The man nicknamed ‘Chaos’ is now targeting a rematch with Ireland’s Stephen McKenna in Dublin.
