Skipper Cook keen to build momentum as Poole breeze past Berwick

Skipper Zach Cook banged in a 15-point maximum as Poole Pirates thumped Berwick 60-30 and added: “The train has only just got started.”

The Aussie led the charge for Poole without regular number one Richard Lawson, while Will Cairns (9+2), guest Sam Masters (9+2) and Lewis Kerr (9) also piled on the points.

It means Poole have won their past three SGB Championship fixtures.

And with meetings coming thick and fast, Cook is keen to keep up the positive momentum.

He said: “I wish every night was as good as Wednesday, but yeah the bike was working well and I made some decent starts.

“But I was also going fast as well. Everything just seemed to work for me and like I said I wish they were all like that.

“It was fun out there and the meetings are coming thick and fast now. The train has only just got started.”

Poole visit Oxford (7.30pm) on Friday before making the trip to Plymouth on Saturday (7pm).
