Ford setting sights on more silverware for Poole Pirates in 2026
Promoter Danny Ford insisted he had more silverware in his sights this season, as Poole Pirates this week begin their 2026 campaign.
Winners of the SGB Championship and Knockout Cup last season, Poole begin their campaign with a home clash against Plymouth Gladiators on Good Friday (6pm).
They will first hold their annual press and practice session on Wednesday (5pm).
"I am counting down the days to our opening meeting," Ford told the club website.
"And it seems to be coming round real fast. We have been working hard behind the scenes in preparation for the season. I am keen to see the new team in action.
“I feel we have a good blend of youth and experience, with riders able to hold their averages, but in a number of cases, significantly increase them.
"As with every season since my dad took on the club, we are determined to lift as much silverware as possible and make the town proud of Poole Speedway.
“Our season ticket sales have gone well, although there is still an opportunity for anyone yet to claim one to do so."
"We have had a good response, too, to our school visits, with Dan (Gilkes), Will (Cairns) and Cooper (Rushen) getting the message out to the youngsters as to just how exciting speedway can be."
Gilkes, Cairns and Rushen will be joined by Fraser Bowes, Richard Lawson, Zach Cook and Lewis Kerr in Poole’s 2026 septet.
