Parkstone ABC's Gluza seals national amateur title
Parkstone ABC fighter Ana Gluza has been crowned national elite champion in the England amateur ranks.
The Dorset ace overcame Eltham’s Shona Larkman in the final to take the crown in Derby.
Victory in the 80+ kilo category is the biggest win of Gluza’s career, having trained at Parkstone since taking up the sport seven years ago.
The 26-year-old’s triumph goes alongside winning gold at the Swedish Golden Girls Box Cup, as well as previously being crowned national novice champion.
Trainer Kev Thorniley said: “Ana didn’t start boxing herself until she was 19, when she first came to Parkstone ABC. Since then, she’s come on massively and built a strong amateur career.
“Following her Elite win, she’s been selected to represent England at the Four Nations against Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. She has also been invited to a GB assessment weekend in Sheffield.
“She’s absolutely buzzing with it all, really looking forward to pushing on from here and maybe even aiming towards the pro ranks.
“Everyone in the gym is delighted for Ana and we cannot wait to see how she progresses from here.”
