Lawson pleased to be back at home as Poole Pirates thump Workington
Poole Pirates number one Richard Lawson insisted it was good to be back on home shale as his side thumped Workington Comets 61-29 at Wimborne Road.
The British charger spearheaded a dominant Poole side in the SGB Championship fixture, having totalled 13+1 from his five rides.
A stunning move from Lawson to reel in Workington’s Jonas Jeppesen in heat 15 also sent the crowd wild.
Reflecting after the meeting, he told the club website: "Well, the track kind of went to just one line towards the end and you can see on the first turn the black marks.
“That's the rubber from the tyres and you actually get traction off of that. So, everyone kind of aims for that. Jonas was on it and I thought I will stick with him for three laps and then on the last one decided I'm going for it. I had to go wide and yeah, luckily, we got it.
“It felt like an eternity since we have ridden here so yeah, it is nice to get a good win and with everyone checking in with points."
Next up for Poole is a home clash against Berwick in league action on Wednesday.
