Lawson's respect for Tigers as Poole continue flawless start to league campaign

Poole Pirates number one Richard Lawson predicted his side would lock horns with Glasgow at the business end of the speedway season.

The British charger was speaking after his side sealed a 55-35 victory over the Tigers at Wimborne Road on Wednesday.

Lawson totalled 11 from five rides as Poole made it three wins from three to begin their SGB Championship campaign. Former Pirate Chris Harris totalled 15 from six outings for the visitors.

Lawson said:  “Things didn't go all my own way, but when Bomber (Harris) is up against you then you know it is going to be tough and he was riding well.

“He did me a couple of times but you can't win them all, although I want to.

“But it was a good night. There was tough, hard racing and a nice competitive win for the team.

“I just think we are two class teams and, you know, they say the cream always rises and I wouldn't be surprised we will see them at the end of the season again."

Poole are next in action when they visit Edinburgh Monarchs on Friday (7.30pm).
