Lawson powers Pirates into BSN Series semi-finals
Maximum man Richard Lawson propelled Poole Pirates into the semi-finals of the BSN Series.
The Poole number one recorded five wins from as many rides as the Wimborne Road outfit thumped Oxford Cheetahs 52-37 on home shale to seal their place in the last four of the competition.
Lawson was backed up by Lewis Kerr (10+1) and Zach Cook (8+1) while teenager Cooper Rushen once again shone at reserve as part of a promising debut season. Sam Masters (10+1) led the charge for the visitors.
The result meant Poole, who were managed by owner Matt Ford on the night, recorded eight league points from four meetings to progress as winners of the Southern Group, ahead of Oxford and Plymouth.
They will await the winners of the Northern and Scottish Groups, with the best second-placed team at the group stage also making up the last four.
Poole are next in action in the SGB Championship, when they host Redcar Bears at Wimborne Road on Wednesday, May 6 (7.30pm).
