AFC Bournemouth recorded a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa

Semenyo: Iraola's tactics 'really coming together' at AFC Bournemouth

Flying forward Antoine Semenyo hailed the “cohesion” in the AFC Bournemouth camp, as they picked up another point in a 2-2 draw against in-form Aston Villa.

Ghana international Semenyo struck the opener for Andoni Iralola’s men after just 10 minutes at Vitality Stadium, before Leon Bailey found the bottom corner to level up the contest ahead of the break.

Dominic Solanke’s seventh Premier League goal of the season looked to have won it for Cherries on 52 minutes, after he neatly turned and struck home from 12 yards out.

But in-form Ollie Watkins found a 90th-minute leveller for Villa. The England striker headed in Moussa Diaby’s cross to stun the home crowd and earn Unai Emery’s charges a point.

Despite being pegged back late on, Semenyo was keen to take the positives with the Dorset club now accumulating 10 points from their past five league contests.

The 23-year-old told afcbTV: “We are just playing well as a team. We are training hard together and I feel like the manager’s tactics are coming together now.

“We are slowly building, going in this tough period and hopefully we can get some more wins.

“We were unlucky with the draw but it’s a point and that’s better than nothing.”

He added: “The manager’s tactics are really coming together now and we are all gelling as a team, the cohesion is great and we just need to keep building on this.

“We are in good form and hopefully we can pick up some more points over this tough period.”

Bournemouth make the trip to Crystal Palace in the top flight on Wednesday, before an away clash at Manchester United on Saturday.

Semenyo said: “It starts from tomorrow (Monday) really, just making sure we recover right and whatever the boss wants us to do, we do.

“Crystal Palace is going to be a tough one but I think we are ready for it – let’s go.”

Cherries are 16th in the league table, six points above the relegation zone.
