Dog Surfing Champs at Shaka Surf

This weekend’s UK Dog Surfing Championships hosted by Shaka Surf at Branksome Dene Chine Beach in Poole delivered pure sunshine, surf, and canine fun under one roof – or rather, surfboard! And get this: three Guinness World Records were smashed!

• Record-breaking moments: Spectators watched in awe as dogs and their humans raced to set new Guinness World Records – including the fastest 50m dog-and-human paddleboard sprint, and the most dogs on one giant paddleboard riding a wave, confirmed by an official Guinness adjudicator

• Competitive thrills: Over 30 dog-human teams battled it out in heats, semis, and finals to vie for the UK Dog Surfing Champion of the Year, plus awards for style, longest wave, tricks, tail wagging, and even doggy fancy dress including the hilarious look-a-like duos 

• Festival vibes: A full-day beach bash with live commentary and laughter from Hot Radio’s beloved comperes – Martyn the Hat and Holli Wood – plus live music at the Sunset Session, Shaka Street Food Fair, Mutts Market, Puppy Pad Kids Zone, beach volleyball, and more.

• Tons of spectators: The fun drew around 2,000 spectators and over 200 happy leashed pups enjoying the action on the sand
