REVIEW: Halloween Experience at Moors Valley 2025

If you’re looking for the ultimate Halloween experience in Dorset this half term, look no further!

After the disappointment of last night’s cancelled opening due to theft, the incredible team at Moors Valley Country Park have pulled off something truly spectacular. Overnight, they turned everything around and reopened this evening with smiles, spirit and an experience that’s even better than ever. Their dedication deserves huge applause and the result is a magical, family-friendly Halloween event that everyone in Dorset should experience.

A Wholesome Halloween Adventure

I visited the Halloween Trail at Moors Valley 2025 with my husband and two daughters (aged 5 and 8), and they were completely enchanted from start to finish. The moment you step into the woodland, the forest comes alive with glowing pumpkins, cobwebs, cackling witches, and playful surprises around every turn.

This year’s trail feels bigger, bolder, and more interactive. There are new themed zones, motion-triggered sound effects, and beautiful lighting displays that create an atmosphere that’s both spooky and spectacular. The kids loved searching for clues and chatting with the live characters, especially the friendly witch who was back again this year, just as captivating as ever!

Atmosphere & Experience at Halloween at Moors Valley

Moors Valley has once again managed to capture the perfect balance between eerie and enchanting. The woodland is decorated with glowing lanterns, mist effects, light shows and themed scenes that blend seamlessly with nature. You’ll encounter talking pumpkins, ghostly projections, and even a few cheeky skeletons who might make you jump (just a little!).

What makes it so special is how interactive and family-focused it is. The team have clearly thought of everything; from younger children’s comfort levels to accessibility and layout. It’s not too scary for the older ones (my 5 year old was a little apprehensive around the witch and real life characters) but there are plenty of distractions to avoid any major frights.

Dorset is full of family-friendly days out like this, so if you’re looking for more ideas, see our full guide to things to do with the kids in Dorset for inspiration.

Food, Drink & Comfort

The Event Village at the start and finish has been expanded this year, with an even better mix of food and drink stalls. Expect everything from hog roasts and loaded burgers to Greek wraps, hot chocolates, and mulled wine.

The kids’ favourites were the chocolate-dipped apples and marshmallow treats at the mid-trail refreshment stop; a must-try!

Paths are wide and smooth, so it’s easy to navigate with pushchairs or little legs. There’s clear signage and plenty of friendly staff on hand. The toilets are located in the main event area near the start and finish of the trail.

Parking & Prices at Moors Valley

Parking is straightforward and plentiful; the car park is well lit and close to the main entrance. It’s £16 per adult, £12 per child (ages 3–16), and under 2s go free. Parking charges apply separately, but the experience is well worth every penny.
