New FREE Student Hub Opens at BOMO House in Bournemouth

A brand-new dedicated Student Hub is opening at BOMO House in Bournemouth town centre today, offering students a free place to study, socialise, meet people and access a growing range of perks and events.

The BOMO Student Hub officially opens from 5pm on Thursday 17 September, creating a new community space for Bournemouth's student population right in the heart of the town centre.

And perhaps the best bit? Membership is completely free.

Located inside BOMO House, the new Student Hub has been designed as much more than somewhere to grab a drink. Students can use the space to study, work between lectures, meet friends, play games, attend events or simply find somewhere comfortable to spend time.

The launch builds on owner James Gordon's original plans for BOMO House. When the venue opened earlier this year, Gordon spoke about developing its daytime offering into a space where students and locals could work, study and relax.

The team also plans to continue developing the offering, with students themselves encouraged to help shape what the Hub becomes.

A New Community Space for Bournemouth Students

The Student Hub is aimed at all students in Bournemouth – not simply those arriving in the town for the first time.
With thousands of young people already living locally as well as those moving to the area to attend university or college, the aim is to create an affordable, accessible place where Bournemouth's student community can come together.

BOMO House owner James Gordon said:

“We wanted to create somewhere that students genuinely feel is theirs – a place they can come during the day to study or grab a coffee, meet friends, get involved with events and then enjoy the social side of BOMO too.

“For me, it's about much more than opening another venue. We want to build a community around the Student Hub and actually listen to students about what they want from it. Bournemouth has a huge student population and they are such an important part of the town, so we want to give them somewhere they feel welcome, safe and part of something.

“This is only the beginning. We've got lots of ideas for the Hub, but we also want the students themselves to help us shape where it goes next.”

That community-led approach fits with Gordon's wider plans for his Bournemouth venues. He has previously said that BOMO House's development has involved testing ideas, listening to customers and adapting the venue around what people actually want. 

Part of a Bigger Investment in Bournemouth

The Student Hub is the latest development from the team behind BOMO House, Harry's Lounge and Bar Coast, which have been bringing previously underused town-centre spaces back into use during 2026. 

Gordon has also spoken publicly about wanting stronger connections between Bournemouth's businesses, universities, students and residents, and about encouraging students to build a lasting relationship with the town beyond their studies. 

The new Hub brings another daytime dimension to BOMO House, transforming its upper-floor space into somewhere that can be used by students for studying and socialising as well as events and activities.

And judging by the first look inside, there's plenty of room to find your favourite spot – from sofas and smaller tables to larger areas for groups.
