Padel fans in Poole are invited to a launch party at Cross Court Padel this month, as Poole-founded brand Obsidian Padel celebrates its arrival with an afternoon and evening of games, demos, music and food on Saturday 27 June.
The line-up promises social games on court, product demos, music and food, with players of all levels welcome to come down, give the sport a go and see the kit up close.
Obsidian Padel is built around one simple idea: padel gear that fits everybody. Its core range runs from XS to 6XL as standard, a sizing span most padel labels don't go near, with rackets handmade in Spain joining the line-up too.
The brand started, fittingly, at Cross Court itself. Founder Andy Callahan was having a coffee at the club when he got talking to padel coach Mike Wyatt, who at six foot seven couldn't find kit to fit. Callahan had the same problem from the other end of the size scale. Two very different builds, one sport, and nothing either of them could buy off the shelf. Obsidian grew out of that conversation.
It makes for a fitting host. Cross Court Padel on Upton Road is Dorset's only indoor padel centre, with seven premium courts, coaching for every level and a café and bar pouring local coffee and Dorset ales. Whether you're a regular or have never picked up a racket, it's a relaxed way to spend an afternoon and see what all the fuss is about.
And if the launch gives you a taste for it, there's plenty more on at Cross Court. A new Pizza and Padel social kicks off on Saturday 13 June, running 6.00pm to 7.30pm with four courts split by level, a relaxed game and half a pizza each afterwards, all for £20 a head. Regular socials, leagues and coaching for all levels run throughout the week too. crosscourtpadel.co.uk | obsidianpadel.co.uk
