The ship’s visit will be funded by the BID and supported by the Poole Harbour Commissioners. It looks to build on the success of last year’s tall ship visit.
The Nao Santa Maria is rich in history; it was the largest of three ships used by Christopher Columbus in his 1492 voyage across the Atlantic.
The ship visiting Poole is a replica launched in 2018 by the Spanish organisation Fundación Nao Victoria which dedicates itself to maritime history.
The replica took 14 months to build and incorporates modern materials such as fiberglass with traditional woodwork which is faithful to the time of the ships original existence.
So, make sure you visit Poole Quay this June so you don't miss out on this amazing piece of history.
