Designs for major refurbishments at Noyce Gardens, Mallard Road, Muscliff Park, King’s Park and Bourne Valley have been announced: all shaped by the ideas of local children, young people and families.
From swings, seesaws and slides to climbing nets, sloping beams and sensory play – the upgraded sites are set to be more accessible than ever before.
Packed full of fun and adventure, the designs have been directly influenced by local communities who met with BCP Council officers as part of the Plan for Play consultation last summer.
Cllr Sandra Moore, BCP Council’s Portfolio Holder for Play Strategy, said: “We’re making good progress with our play area refurbishments and these designs are a shining example of the influence local communities can have.
“These investments demonstrate the commitment we made to residents throughout our consultation: that we would deliver on their priorities at locations that mattered most to them.
“As a mum and a grandma, I am incredibly proud of the work this Council is doing to put high quality play areas back at the heart of our communities.”
Start dates for each site will be announced soon: as well as work at Anchor Close, Churchill Gardens, Hamworthy Park and plenty more.
BCP Council is investing more than £4.6million as part of its Plan for Play – bringing improvements to around 120 play areas in total.
Work is set to ramp up over the next six months with a host of major upgrades and refurbishments at key sites.
In recent weeks the team has completed a major refurb of Treasure Island, in Canford Cliffs, and made improvements at a host of sites including Beaufort Park, Kingston Road, Fenners Field and Moordown Rec.
