New Year, Fresh Start at Bournemouth & Poole College

Is 2023 the year you want to gain further qualifications or brush up on your employability skills? Or maybe you’re just looking to upskill or challenge yourself for fun? Bournemouth & Poole College has a wealth of opportunities for all, young and old, and many of them are free and online!

Being the largest Further Education (FE) and Apprenticeships provider in the area, the college’s mission is to give every student the best life they can and to champion lifelong learning to benefit individuals, the community and the economy. It is committed to transforming students’ futures, continually introducing new courses to stay up to date with the demands of today’s employers.

Whether you want to study at degree level, complete an apprenticeship, boost your CV or start a new hobby, we guarantee there’s a course for you.

New opportunities for 2023 include apprenticeships in Early Years and Digital Support, as well as a range of Degree Apprenticeships. Plus, there is a new degree-level course – the FdSc in Health Nutrition & Exercise Science – and free courses for adults in Coding and Cyber Security.

“Today’s employers look for a good variety of transferable skills,” explains Clare Rummery, Campaign & Events Officer, “the college encourages digital skills and also teaches employability and functional skills in English and Maths.”

Asked how things are changing in the world of education, Clare says that a key trend developing in degree level courses is working alongside your studies:

“It can really enrich what students learn because they can bring those real-world examples into the classroom. If you’re looking for the option to study alongside working, the affordable degree level options at the college could be the solution.

“We offer a range of part-time courses with fewer study hours each week for those people where full-time study is simply not an option. We also have some evening courses which can work around your family and existing commitments. All of our degree-level programs are designed in a way that they’re accessible to real people with real lives.”

With part-time, evening and online courses to choose from (over 30 of them free), covering a wide range of industries and subjects, the college supports those who want to get back to work and inspires those wanting to upskill or start a new hobby. From Accounting to Coding, Photography to Plastering, Dementia Care to, new for this year, Counselling and Employability, there is something for everyone. Or why not pop along to one of these upcoming taster days or information sessions and see what inspires you? As Oscar Wilde once said: “You can never be overdressed or overeducated.”
