Christchurch Quay Splash Park Reopens for the Summer

Christchurch Town Council is delighted to announce the reopening of Christchurch Quay Splash Park, following a period of essential repairs and safety works that delayed its planned early summer opening.

The popular free attraction – also known as the Quomps Splash Park – was successfully resurfaced in May to ensure it continues to flourish as a safe, family friendly attraction. However, a series of unforeseen technical issues, including the need for specialist replacement parts, resulted in frustrating delays while engineers sourced, fitted and tested new components. The Town Council’s priority throughout has been to ensure the Splash Park could open safely, and remain open throughout the entire season.

During the closure, and as works progressed, Christchurch Town Council provided frequent updates via the dedicated Christchurch Quay Splash Park Facebook page and a large banner on its website. “We know how much the Splash Park means to local families, especially in warm weather, and we completely understand the community’s frustration,” said Cllr Maggie Fidler, Town Mayor and Chair of Christchurch Town Council. “Our team has worked tirelessly to get everything repaired, tested and safe. We are incredibly grateful for everyone’s patience and understanding, and we’re delighted to welcome children back to enjoy this much-loved space.”

About the Splash Park

Located in the heart of Christchurch Quay, the Splash Park is a vibrant, accessible water play area designed for young children and enjoyed by both residents and visitors. It features a large splash pad with water jets, sprays and interactive water elements – including pumps, channels and sluices – alongside a paddling pool.

Inspired by the meeting of the Rivers Avon and Stour as they flow into Christchurch Harbour, the Splash Park was originally designed in 2008 by local children, young people and the wider community. In 2024, Christchurch Town Council took over its operation from BCP Council, securing its future for generations to come.

Christchurch Town Council looks forward to welcoming families back to enjoy the Splash Park throughout the summer. For updates see their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/christchurchquaysplashpark
