Moors Valley launches brand new forester themed play area for the summer holidays 

Moors Valley Country Park and Forest has unveiled ‘Timber’ - a brand new, giant play area themed around Forestry England’s work to provide sustainable timber. Budding foresters can operate a giant timber lorry, sort seeds and learn more about the different tasks involved in harvesting and planting trees.

The adventure starts in the forester’s cabin where children can use an interactive notice board to plan how they are going to work in the forest. Here they can also use a series of pulleys to sort tree seeds and help protect the forester’s lunch from the wood ants!

Climbing timber tangles, tunnels and see-saws lead up a hill to a giant wooden timber harvesting machine where children can take the steering wheel and levers to practice their driving skills. To get back down they can choose from a slide or climb down via a ladder or wooden beams.  

The structure is designed to be enjoyed by everyone with accessible features within the forester’s cabin. It is located just off the play trail which can be accessed on a smooth and level gravel track.

Timber is the newest play structure along the Moors Valley Country Park and Forest Play Trail offering 10 giant play structures to explore.

“We are really excited to launch our latest addition to the much-loved Play Trail at Moors Valley. Inspired by the work our foresters do to provide sustainable timber and look after forests, Timber has plenty of ways to play for both little and big explorers.

The money raised by paying for parking when visiting helps us to update and add new play structures. We are very grateful to everyone who supports this special place in this way, thank you.”
