The popular family destination, often known locally as “Pirate Park”, will benefit from a comprehensive upgrade designed to inspire imaginative play, encourage physical activity, and improve accessibility for all visitors.
At the heart of the improvements will be a striking brand-new pirate ship, replacing the existing structure and creating a centrepiece for adventure and exploration. Alongside this, children will enjoy upgraded climbing equipment, a mini zip wire, and a range of themed play zones designed to spark creativity and active play.
The refreshed layout will introduce new opportunities for climbing, balancing and sensory play, while also enhancing the overall experience for younger children and families. The works are expected to take place throughout April, with the upgraded park reopening in time for the spring and summer seasons.
The refurbishment forms part of a wider £4.4 million Plan for Play programme, which is delivering improvements to play areas across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. The initiative aims to revitalise community spaces, ensuring they remain vibrant, inclusive and accessible for future generations.
This project has been made possible through joint funding, with support from the Canford Cliffs Land Society, continuing its long-standing commitment to enhancing local amenities.
Once complete, the upgraded Treasure Island Park will offer a modern, engaging and inclusive environment, providing children and families with even more reasons to enjoy outdoor play in one of Poole’s most scenic locations.
