REVIEW: Da Vinci's - Authentic Italian Dining on the Beautiful Poole Quay
If you’re searching for one of the best Italian restaurants in Poole, you’ll want to book a table at Da Vinci.
Perfectly positioned along Poole Quay, this much-loved Italian restaurant has long been a local favourite, and it’s now entering an exciting new chapter under the ownership of Gennaro, who has worked at Da Vinci for over ten years.
Since taking the reins, Gennaro has kept everything diners adore about Da Vinci while adding his own touch of passion and flair. The result? The food is as exceptional as ever, and if not, even better!
We visited for a team lunch in Poole and were treated to warm, friendly service that hit exactly the right note; attentive without being overbearing. The restaurant’s cosy, historic interior paired with lovely sea views over Poole Harbour made it a truly special setting for a midday meal.
The menu celebrates the very best of Italian cuisine with a modern twist. We tucked into the Linguine Crazy Alfredo (a flavour-packed dish of linguine with chicken, chorizo, bacon, cream, parmesan, chilli, nduja, and pesto). Not only was it delicious, but £1 from every order is donated to charity, which makes it even more enjoyable.
Emma chose the Cotoletta alla Bolognese, a real showstopper; a cured pork chop deep-fried in breadcrumbs, topped with Parma ham, Da Vinci’s secret Bolognese sauce, and mature cheese, served with triple-cooked chips.
I went traditional with the Spaghetti Bolognese and i have to say it was the the best Spaghetti Bolonese I've had (even beating meals out in Italy).
Elysia had the Stagioni Pizza with Artichokes, Asparagus and Olives and we all also shared pizza garlic bread and courgette fries, both perfect for the table.
After a hearty round of mains, we decided to share a couple desserts amongst the table. We shared the warm and rich Tortino al Cioccolato Fondente, alongside the Pistachio Cheesecake!
Whether you’re looking for a working lunch spot in Poole, a romantic dinner on the Quay, or a family-friendly Italian restaurant by the sea, Da Vinci Poole ticks every box. There’s ample parking nearby, plus bus stops and a taxi rank right closeby, making it super convenient if you fancy a glass of wine or two.
It’s fantastic to see Gennaro leading the way, continuing Da Vinci’s legacy with heart, quality, and genuine Italian hospitality.
Total Guide to Dorset Verdict:
Outstanding Italian food, friendly service, and stunning Quay views; Da Vinci remains one of Poole’s best restaurants and a must-visit for locals and tourists alike!
