BH Live Active Littledown Family Fun Day Review: A Brilliant Community Event for Dorset Families
If you're looking for family-friendly places to visit in Dorset, BH Live Active Littledown should definitely be on your radar.
We recently spent the afternoon at their annual Family Fun Day, and it was one of those events that had both our girls (aged 5 and 8) smiling from start to finish.
While the event itself has finished, it perfectly showcased why Littledown is such a fantastic hub for local families throughout the year.
Something for Everyone
One of the things we loved most was how varied the activities were. There wasn't just one main attraction – everywhere we turned there was something new to discover - and best of all, there was no entry or parking fees!
Our girls couldn't wait to get involved with the fantastic Absolute Music workshop, where they had the opportunity to try a range of musical instruments. Watching them experiment with guitars, drums and percussion was such a lovely experience, especially as it encouraged them to get creative and have fun together.
They also threw themselves into the gymnastics and circus skills sessions, trying activities they hadn't experienced before with plenty of encouragement from the friendly instructors.
Bubble Shows, Magic and Fairground Fun
The entertainment continued throughout the day with a brilliant bubble show that had children (and plenty of adults!) completely captivated.
The magic show was another huge hit, with lots of laughter and audience participation, while the traditional fairground rides added even more excitement.
One of the girls' favourite moments was meeting Drago the Dragon, who proved incredibly popular with families throughout the day.
Great Atmosphere
Sometimes it's the atmosphere that makes an event memorable, and BH Live Active certainly got this right.
There was a real community feel, with families relaxing on the grass, children running between activities, live entertainment taking place throughout the afternoon and plenty of food stalls serving refreshments.
Everything felt well organised, welcoming and relaxed, making it easy to spend several hours there without feeling rushed.
More Than Just a Leisure Centre
Like many local people, we'd always associated Littledown with swimming, the gym and sports facilities. Events like this remind you that it's so much more than that. Throughout the year, BH Live Active offers a wide range of activities for children, families and the local community, making it well worth following their social channels to hear about future events.
Our Verdict
The Family Fun Day may have been a one-day event, but it highlighted exactly what makes BH Live Active Littledown such a valuable community venue.
From creative workshops and live entertainment to family activities and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere, it was a fantastic afternoon out that our girls are already asking to do again.
If you missed this year's event, we'd definitely recommend keeping an eye on future family events at BH Live Active. In the meantime, Littledown remains a brilliant place for Dorset families to stay active, have fun and make memories together.
