Swanage Railway
Situated within the Isle of Purbeck, the restored Swanage Railway offers an ideal setting for a delightful family day out along Dorset's Jurassic Coast!
Swanage Railway stands as a living testament to the golden age of steam. A journey on this historic line is a step back in time, where the rhythmic chug of the locomotive and the billowing steam evoke a sense of nostalgia and adventure.
The heritage railway attraction runs full-size steam and diesel passenger trains along the five and a half miles of track from Norden to Corfe Castle, continuing down to the charming Victorian seaside town of Swanage.
Each station along the route tells its own story. The railway features stations at Corfe Castle and Harman’s Cross, along with a halt at Herston on the outskirts of Swanage. At Norden and Swanage stations, visitors can find refreshment buffets, and most stations offer picnic tables where you can immerse yourself in the surroundings while enjoying a leisurely picnic.
Whether you are a railway enthusiast, looking for something to do with the family, planning a visit to the beach, or simply seeking a day of timeless exploration, the Swanage Railway promises an unforgettable experience for all ages.
