Summer and National Ice Cream Day
Summer has officially landed on Bournemouth Pier, and what better way to cool down than with a nostalgic soft serve, dipped, drizzled, and sprinkled to perfection? Introducing Dippy Whippy, a playful new twist on everyone’s favourite seaside treats.
This year, the Pier Toll booth has been transformed into Dippy Whippy, serving classic whippy ice cream with an indulgent edge, to celebrate the Pier Toll not being enforced this summer.
Retail sales across the Pier show that while Salted Caramel, Chocolate Heaven and Mint Choc Chip are firm favourites, it’s the classic Whippy that takes the crown, outselling all three top flavours by 35% combined. So, the decision was a no brainer.
With the toll lifted, it’s now even easier for locals and visitors to enjoy a stroll along the iconic pier, cone in hand, sea breeze on your face.
And there’s more. To mark National Ice Cream Day this July, the first 10 people to visit Dippy Whippy between 11am and 12pm and say the words “Happy National Ice Cream Day!” will receive a free Dippy Whippy, on the house.
Paula Bese, Retail Operations Manager at Bournemouth Pier, said: “We’ve always known Whippy was a crowd favourite, there’s just something about it that says ‘British summer holiday’. Dippy Whippy takes that nostalgic joy and gives it a little upgrade. It’s fun, affordable, and very, very tasty.”
So, whether you’re local or just passing through, get yourself down to the pier and give Dippy Whippy a whirl. Because life’s better with a dipped cone and a bit of sunshine.
