Let's Talk

Bournemouth Nightlife Gets a Boost with Bar Coast, Harry’s Lounge & BOMO House
Bournemouth’s nightlife is entering an exciting new chapter, with three venues on Old Christchurch Road being revitalised to create a vibrant social experience in the heart of the town.
The former Popworld and Felsons have been transformed by owners James and Layla Gordon into Bar Coast and Harry’s Lounge, joining the already launched BOMO House nearby. Together, these venues offer a dynamic mix of spaces designed to appeal to everyone, from students and partygoers to locals looking for a more relaxed evening out.
A New Social Destination in Bournemouth
At the heart of this transformation is BOMO House, a stylish and versatile venue designed to bring people together in a setting that feels both relaxed and elevated. James's wife Layla Gordon describes her vision: “BOMO House represents a relaxed yet classy venue that functions well as a multi-functional space. I’m looking forward to seeing it grow and establish itself as a gathering spot for both locals and visitors in this beautiful building at the center of town.”
Meanwhile, James Gordon emphasises the importance of atmosphere: “BOMO House is focused on creating an environment filled with good music, good people, and good vibes. It's a social destination with a casual but premium feel.”
Three Venues, One Seamless Night Out
What sets this collection of venues apart is their seamless integration. Visitors can easily move between Bar Coast, Harry’s Lounge, and BOMO House in one evening, enjoying perks like queue-jumping and shared drink tokens across the locations.
Each venue has its own personality:
Bar Coast caters to a younger crowd, making it perfect for students, hen and stag parties, and lively group outings. It combines high-energy nightlife with flexible options, including daytime brunches.
Harry’s Lounge offers a contrasting experience, inspired by classic American sports bars. Equipped with multiple screens for live sports and a soundtrack leaning toward indie and alternative music, it is designed to be a welcoming spot for regulars and sports fans alike.
BOMO House occupies a middle ground, offering a more refined, multi-functional space that appeals particularly to those aged 30 and up while remaining open and inviting to all.
Built Around Community, Safety, and Experience
Creating a safe and inclusive environment is a strong focus across all three venues, which the owners see as essential to Bournemouth’s nightlife. James has made it clear that safety is a priority, with measures in place to ensure guests feel comfortable from arrival to departure. This includes close collaboration with security teams and thoughtful additions like designated areas where guests can safely wait for taxis if needed.
In addition to safety, there is a commitment to community. Harry’s Lounge has been shaped with locals in mind, offering a familiar and welcoming atmosphere, while BOMO House is designed to host a wide range of events, from private celebrations and birthdays to larger gatherings and even wedding receptions.
What’s Coming Next
Looking ahead, there’s plenty planned to keep Bournemouth’s social calendar busy. Upcoming highlights at BOMO House include:
- A major launch event at the end of May
- A Bump and Hustle afterparty on 3rd May
- Live music events throughout the year
- A Caribbean-inspired terrace pop-up during the summer - ‘Funky Flavours on the Terrace’
With a new menu launching soon under a new Head Chef, the venues are continuing to evolve and bring fresh energy to Bournemouth’s bar and nightlife scene.
With three distinct venues, a packed events calendar, and a clear focus on atmosphere, safety, and community, Bar Coast, Harry’s Lounge, and BOMO House are set to become key players in Bournemouth’s evolving nightlife.
Whether you’re planning a big night out, a casual drink, or a memorable celebration, this new trio of venues offers something for every mood right in the heart of town.
