Set inside the iconic glass dome on Exeter Road (previously NEO), Sexy Lobster already feels like one of Bournemouth’s most exciting new openings. The launch brought together local bloggers, business owners and media, creating a real buzz from the moment guests arrived. We were greeted with a cocktail on arrival and, while we had expected drinks and canapés, the team absolutely went above and beyond with a superb four-course meal.
The menu gave us a delicious taste of what’s to come, beginning with cold poached lobster and crab broth with lemongrass, followed by pumpkin and mushroom croquettes with sriracha truffle yoghurt. For the main course, we enjoyed grilled sesame tuna steak served with sweet potato purée, broccoli, ginger and sesame, before finishing with a rich 70% chocolate mousse with extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, hazelnut crumb and salted caramel ice cream.
The food was beautifully presented and full of flavour, but what really stood out was the atmosphere. The staff were so friendly, attentive and welcoming throughout the evening, and there was a genuine sense of excitement among everyone there. It felt like a very special launch for Bournemouth.
Led by hospitality entrepreneur Howard Spooner and executive chef Olivia Brinkley, whose background includes Zuma and Sydney’s acclaimed Tetsuya’s, Sexy Lobster brings a fresh and ambitious dining concept to the town’s food scene. With its panoramic seafront setting, standout menu and polished service, it already feels like a venue that will draw plenty of attention.
With Sexy Lobster joining a wave of exciting new openings, Bournemouth is fast becoming a real foodie hub on the coast, and this launch only reinforced that feeling.
