New Giant Swing and Activity Tower Launch at Buddens Activity Centre for 2026
A brand-new activity tower and Giant Swing is set to bring even more adventure to Dorset in 2026, as Rockley unveils an exciting addition at Buddens Activity Centre, one of the region’s leading outdoor adventure and residential centres.
Set within 96 acres of stunning countryside in the Isle of Purbeck, Buddens Activity Centre is already a popular destination for school residential trips, scout groups and family campers, offering outdoor adventure experiences in the heart of Dorset’s natural landscape.
With views and easy access to iconic landmarks such as Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Studland Beach, the centre provides an ideal base for outdoor learning, geography and science field trips, as well as activity-packed residential adventures.
A New Adventure for 2026
The new climbing activity station at Buddens has been designed to expand the centre’s adventure offering, allowing more young people to take part in climbing, high ropes challenges and adrenaline-fuelled outdoor activities.
At the heart of the new structure is the Giant Swing, an exhilarating experience designed to test courage, teamwork and resilience.
This new addition reflects Rockley’s continued investment in its centres, ensuring young people visiting Buddens can enjoy high-quality outdoor activities that build confidence, friendships and lifelong memories.
The Giant Swing Experience
The Giant Swing isn’t just about thrills; it’s also a team-building challenge.
Two participants are securely harnessed in while the rest of the group works together on the ground to hoist them high into the air using a pulley system. When the riders feel ready, one of them pulls the ripcord, releasing the mechanism and sending them soaring forward in a dramatic pendulum swing.
The result is a moment of pure exhilaration, with riders swinging through the air and experiencing an unforgettable rush of speed and height.
The activity has already been tested by the Rockley team, and the verdict was unanimous, it was an instant favourite.
Adventure in the Heart of the Jurassic Coast
Buddens Activity Centre sits in a spectacular location within the Isle of Purbeck, surrounded by heathland, woodland and natural countryside.
Its proximity to the Jurassic Coast makes it an exceptional destination for schools combining outdoor adventure with curriculum-led geography and science learning, as well as for youth organisations looking to develop leadership, teamwork and resilience in young people.
Safety First
Safety remains the top priority for Rockley when introducing new activities.
The new activity tower and Giant Swing have been built to rigorous safety standards, ensuring secure harnessing systems, reliable equipment and expert supervision so that participants can focus on enjoying the experience with confidence.
Who Can Try It?
The Giant Swing will be included as part of the activity programme at Buddens for school residentials and youth groups, depending on scheduling and programme availability.
While not every visitor will necessarily have the opportunity to take part, the centre hopes the new tower will allow more groups, and potentially family campers, to experience the activity during their stay.
A New Highlight for Dorset Adventure Experiences
With its combination of stunning natural surroundings, outdoor learning opportunities and thrilling activities, Buddens Activity Centre continues to grow as one of Dorset’s most exciting destinations for young adventurers.
And with the launch of the new Giant Swing activity tower in 2026, visitors can expect even more unforgettable moments high above the Purbeck countryside.
