Construction Begins on Lewis-Manning’s New Hospice Hub with Whitefox Chartered Surveyors at the Helm

There was a celebratory feel in the air this week as work officially began on the transformation of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care’s new building on Longfleet Road in Poole. Marking a significant milestone, the redevelopment will see the creation of a welcoming, purpose-built space to support patients and families across the community.

Whitefox Chartered Surveyors are generously offering their professional services pro bono, acting as Project Managers and Cost Consultants for during the feasibility stages and throughout the 12-week project on site. The new facility will offer complementary therapy, family support and bereavement counselling in a safe and homely environment – a vital community resource that’s been long-awaited.

Whitefox Director, Matt Allibone, said, “It’s fantastic to get the project underway and to collaborate with this fabulous community hospice facility. We’re looking forward to working closely with our client and the construction team to deliver the project on time and on budget. It’s great to help create this community hub for those going though very difficult times.”

Project Co-ordinator, Juliette Kemp of Lewis-Manning added, “I can’t believe it’s finally started! It’s been a long time in the coming. It’s a 12-week project, after which the builders will be handed over and we can begin fitting it out.”

Jo Sharkey, Lewis-Manning’s Family Support & Bereavement Lead, highlighted the building’s future impact, “It’s going to be a lovely, contained space – calm, peaceful, and far from clinical. It will offer patients and their families a welcoming place to engage, reflect, and receive support during the most challenging of times.”

This transformation marks a new chapter for Lewis-Manning Hospice Care as it continues its mission to provide outstanding care and compassion for people facing life-limiting illnesses across East Dorset, Purbeck, Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch and West Hampshire.
