The new arrivals facility has doubled the number of Border Force passport control desks and tripled the available floor space, creating a faster, smoother and a more pleasant experience for passengers arriving into Bournemouth Airport
This development forms part of a £17 million investment programme to enhance the Bournemouth Airport travel experience. Recent improvements have already included the doubling of check-in desk capacity and a major upgrade to the outbound baggage system.
The next phase, due for completion this autumn, will deliver an expanded baggage reclaim hall with larger carousels to further improve passenger flow.
Looking ahead, further upgrades will include an extended terminal building and a new transport interchange designed to improve access for buses, taxis, cyclists and pedestrians, making the airport even more connected for local and visiting travellers alike.
The airport, which now serves 48 destinations across Europe and beyond, welcomed 1.1 million passengers in the year to March. It employs around 450 staff at peak times, with more than 3,500 jobs supported by Bournemouth Airport and the neighbouring Aviation Business Park, one of Dorset’s largest employment hubs.
As the airport continues to expand, an additional 230 jobs are expected to be created, supporting the growth of the local economy and strengthening Bournemouth’s role as a key gateway to Dorset and the South Coast.
