MYTIME Young Carers Attends Windsor Castle Reception

Team members of the charity were greeted personally by His Majesty The King of England during an honorary Reception held in celebration of carers across the country.

On the 11th of February 2026, Dorset-based charity MYTIME Young Carers was honoured to attend a prestigious Reception at Windsor Castle hosted by His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen, celebrating and giving thanks to individuals and organisations who support those with caring responsibilities across the UK. Members of staff from the charity were very proud to attend alongside a number of the young carers themselves that MYTIME supports.

The evening brought together a wide range of organisations from across the caring sector, offering a valuable opportunity to connect, network, and share experiences inside one of the magnificent halls of Windsor Castle.

Guests were welcomed to a sparkling reception, with Castle staff providing traditional silver service. The atmosphere was positive, intimate and reflective, set against the historic surroundings of the Castle.

Reflecting on the incredible event, MYTIME Young Carers CEO Krista Cartlidge said;

“We’re so grateful to be recognised in this way and it was humbling to see His Majesty The King greet the young carers we support with nothing but warmth. We are floored by the honour of this invitation and what it means for not only MYTIME but young carers all across the country.

“To be celebrated at this place of unparalleled national significance is to be seen at such a meaningful scale. Young carers continue to grow in profile and with that, the identification and support of them grows too.”

The event was introduced by a special message from His Majesty The King;

“Whether through professional commitment or through the quiet, unheralded devotion of family and friendship, you represent something profoundly valuable not just within our communities, but for humanity as a whole. Across the United Kingdom today, there are some five million people providing unpaid care to a loved one.”

“[…] Above all, I have been moved, time and again, by the resilience of those who give so much of themselves while asking for so little in return,” he added.

 For MYTIME Young Carers, whose work focuses on children and young adults with caring responsibilities, attending such a distinguished event marked an important moment of recognition.

MYTIME Young Carers continues to support young carers through a range of provisions and programmes including activity days, employability support, and its award-winning school partnership programme; Level Up. The charity fights for increased awareness of the realities faced by young carers, and improved support to give them the same chance to thrive as their non-caring peers.

The Windsor Castle Reception represented a promising step forward in supporting the caring community, reinforcing the value of understanding, collaboration, and recognition at the highest level.
