REVIEW: Business Lunch at The White Hart, Lymington – A Perfect Meeting Spot in the New Forest Between Poole & Southampton
If you're searching for the perfect business lunch venue in Lymington, The White Hart should be firmly on your list. Combining exceptional food, top-tier service, and a highly convenient location, it’s an ideal choice for meetings, client catch-ups, or team lunches.
A Convenient Location for Business Meetings
One of the standout benefits of The White Hart is its location. Situated just on the edge of Lymington, it offers easy access without the hassle of navigating the busy town centre. With plenty of on-site parking, it’s particularly well-suited for business professionals travelling from surrounding areas.
I recently met business contacts here, travelling from Poole while they came from Southampton, making it a perfect halfway meeting point in the New Forest.
Stylish Yet Relaxed Setting
As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and shown into a beautifully designed dining space. The décor is exactly what you’d expect from Heartwood Inns – stylish, inviting, and thoughtfully put together. It strikes that ideal balance between professional and relaxed, making it suitable for both informal meetings and more formal client lunches.
Seasonal Spring Menu & Exceptional Service
The service throughout was impeccable. Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive, offering excellent recommendations from the spring menu, which showcases fresh, seasonal ingredients.
We opted to share starters, which worked brilliantly for a more sociable and relaxed business lunch. Dishes included:
- Deep-fried goat’s cheese and black olive parcel with frisée salad, rosemary oil and balsamic reduction
- Beetroot-cured chalk stream trout gravadlax with horseradish crème fraîche
- Heartwood Inns’ signature homemade Scotch egg
- Fresh bread for the table
Each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour.
High-Quality Mains That Impress
For mains, the quality continued to shine:
- Dressed Devon crab with brown crab mayo, chips and mixed leaf salad
- Slow-grown chicken ballotine with spring vegetables, morels and sherry cream sauce
- Haddock fillet with minted pea purée, watercress, new potatoes and tomato chilli dressing
Every dish was cooked to perfection, showcasing the consistently high standards Heartwood Inns are known for.
Don’t Skip Dessert – A Standout Selection
We actually chose our desserts first – and for good reason. The pistachio soufflé with Jude’s chocolate ice cream is quite simply one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Having enjoyed it at another Heartwood Inns location, I was thrilled to see it on the menu here – and it absolutely lived up to expectations.
Alongside this, we enjoyed a rich chocolate mousse and a coffee praline dessert, which added a more indulgent, slightly grown-up flavour to the table – the perfect balance to the lighter soufflé.
Why The White Hart is Ideal for a Business Lunch
The White Hart ticks every box for a successful business lunch:
- Easy access with ample parking

- Outstanding seasonal food
- Friendly, knowledgeable service
It’s a venue that makes hosting clients or meeting colleagues feel effortless, while still delivering a memorable dining experience.
