Lulworth Castle and Park has a busy Autumn ahead, with evening yoga, heritage talks, a weekend of outdoor cinema and half-term activities for families. Whether you're looking for a peaceful countryside walk, a family day out or simply an excuse to spend more time outdoors, there's plenty to enjoy.
Set within the Lulworth Estate in East Lulworth, near Wareham and a few miles inland from Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, the historic castle is surrounded by extensive parkland and woodland, making it an atmospheric setting for autumn adventures.
For those who love getting outside, autumn is the perfect time to explore the Lulworth landscape. The wider Lulworth Estate offers miles of footpaths and permissive routes through a diverse Dorset landscape, with the parkland at its most colourful at this time of year.
Autumn is not all about muddy boots, and Lulworth is also offering the chance to pause, relax and enjoy some seasonal wellbeing.
Autumn Yoga takes place in the Castle Courtyard Room on Thursday 15 and Thursday 22 October, from 6pm to 7pm. Led by Kerrie, these seasonally themed hatha yoga sessions are a relaxing way to unwind at the end of the day. Just remember to bring your own mat.
Autumn also brings opportunities to explore the history and collections of Lulworth Castle.
The Collections Care Talks, hosted by the Castle Custodian on Wednesday 14 and Wednesday 21 October from 10am to 12 noon, offer an insight into how historic collections are cared for, with each session focusing on a different type of collection. The hands-on sessions also give visitors the chance to learn practical techniques they could use to look after their own treasured possessions.
From Sunday 11 October, visitors can also enjoy A Journey Through Autumn, a new seasonal display inside the castle celebrating the colours, sights and smells of the season.
As October draws towards Halloween, Lulworth Castle takes on a very different atmosphere.
From Friday 23 to Sunday 25 October, Adventure Cinema, which describes itself as the UK's No.1 outdoor cinema, returns to the castle for a weekend of outdoor films, with six features screened against the backdrop of the historic estate.
Visitors can pack a picnic, gather friends and family and settle in for an evening of cinema in an unforgettable Dorset setting. Film listings and tickets are available through Adventure Cinema.
When October half term arrives, Lulworth will be turning the seasonal fun up a notch.
From Sunday 25 to Saturday 31 October, families can enjoy an autumn-themed day out featuring a new trail around the parkland, the seasonal display in the castle and pumpkin-themed lawn games.
Visitors can also explore the castle, climb the tower and let off steam in the Peacock Park woodland playground, while the Castle Tearoom offers a chance to stop for refreshments.
With plenty of outdoor space to explore and the castle itself to discover indoors, Lulworth is a great option for making the most of half term in Dorset, whatever the weather.
Whether it's an autumn walk through the parkland, an evening of yoga, discovering the history of the castle, a weekend of outdoor films or a family half-term adventure, Lulworth is offering plenty of reasons to visit this season.
