Old Bidlake Farm

Tucked away in the patchwork of West Dorset’s Marshwood Vale there hides a magical campsite called Old Bidlake Farm.

They offer eight spacious pitches, excellent facilities, and a genuinely warm welcome, all set within their 8.5-acre smallholding in the stunning National landscapes, just 15 minutes from the Jurassic Coast and its beautiful beaches.

Their aim is to tread lightly on the land and let the landscape speak for itself. To preserve this natural setting, they do not provide hot tubs or electric hook-ups, instead using only a few solar fairy lights at night to protect the area’s magical, star-filled skies.

In partnership with the Dorset Wildlife Trust, they are also working to nurture the land as a haven for wildlife and biodiversity within the wider countryside.

They place great importance on their guests’ comfort and aim to make each stay as hassle-free as possible. Essential items are thoughtfully provided, so there is no need to pack the car to the brim. On arrival, guests can enjoy a cup of tea in the fully equipped kitchen, milk included, before setting up, unwinding, and settling into the surroundings.

Each pitch includes a rocket stove for simple and efficient open-fire cooking, along with a picnic bench. A communal field shelter in the meadow offers a covered dining space, while the Barn provides two kitchen areas, two shower rooms, four flush toilets, and a cosy campers’ snug filled with books, guides, games, leather sofas, and other homely touches. With just eight pitches, there is also plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy the setting.
