What will you do with your extra 24 hours in 2024?

Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s Disability Charity, are asking how you might spend your extra 24 hours in 2024?

2024 is a leap year, so everyone gets an extra day, 29th February. The charity is asking local residents to use their extra 24 hours to volunteer for the charity during 2024.

Activities include:

• Helping and marshalling at events
• Helping with bucket collections at local shops, supermarkets and garden centres
• Being part of a cheer crowd for a sponsored run
• Gardening at The Treehouse, the new home for our Children's Short Breaks service
• Using a volunteer day at work to do some painting and decorating at one of the charity’s supported living bungalows
• Holding a bake sale or dress down day at work, school or college

The charity supports children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities through services such as Langside School, a specialist school for children aged 2 to 19 and The Beehive, a therapy and activity centre for adults. Any help received or money raised will ensure the charity is able to provide the best support through their services to make every day better for the children and adults supported by the charity.

Becky Edwards, marketing and volunteers executive at Diverse Abilities, commented: “We are looking for volunteers to help with our fundraising efforts. Everyone gets an extra 24 hours this year, so why not use that time to make a difference in your local community. We have a range of volunteering opportunities to get stuck into, and offer flexibility to fit in with your existing commitments.”
