Margaret Green Animal Rescue’s Country Fayre & Dog Show Returns to Church Knowle

Families, dog lovers and animal supporters are invited to enjoy a fun-filled day at Margaret Green Animal Rescue's popular Country Fayre & Dog Show.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue is hosting its Country Fayre & Dog Show at Church Knowle Rehoming and Visitor Centre near Wareham on Sunday, August 9, with all proceeds going towards its work caring for animals across Dorset and Devon.

Gates open at 11am, with the dog show getting underway at 12pm. Visitors can browse a shopping village of local traders, pick up hot food and drinks, and take in live choir performances and demonstrations throughout the day. A circus skills workshop runs alongside the entertainment, while younger visitors have inflatables, face painting and the ever-popular Teddy Tombola to keep them busy.

Dog owners are invited to enter their pets into a range of novelty show classes, from Waggiest Tail to Best Rescue, or have a go at the agility course and Haybale Hurdles. With warm weather in mind, cooling stations, water bowls, paddling pools and shaded areas will be dotted around the site to help dogs stay comfortable, and the charity is asking owners to bring plenty of water and to think carefully about whether their dog is suited to a hot, busy day out.

Joanna Tiffin, chief executive at Margaret Green Animal Rescue, says the event is one of the highlights of the charity’s year, bringing together supporters, local businesses and the wider community for a day of family fun. She adds that every ticket, raffle entry and dog show class helps fund the charity’s ongoing work rehoming animals, and that the team is looking forward to welcoming visitors back to Church Knowle for what they’re calling their biggest fayre yet.

Free on-site parking is available, and the venue is accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs, though the ground may be uneven in places. Entry is £6 per adult and £2.50 for children under 12, with dog show classes priced at £3 each. Tickets can be bought in advance or on the gate, with online bookings including a link to reserve dog show entries.
